Caister Pupils Re-imagine Shakespeare Classic
Caister pupils treaded the boards with their own interpretation of The Bard’s classic ‘As You Like It’, as part of Creative Education Trust’s Days of Performance.
The project, devised by HMDT Music saw pupils from seven Creative Education Trust schools across the country, including Caister Academy, work with prominent theatre professionals to develop their productions. Workshops in vocal delivery and textual interpretation took place with Royal Shakespeare Company Senior Associate, Michael Corbidge.
Linking the projects together, designer Mark Friend, regular collaborator with Sir Trevor Nunn, worked with a design team in each school to create the props, scenery and costume elements for their plays.
The schools’ drama, music, art and design staff have developed the productions into the performances shown over two days.
Emily Campbell, Director of Programmes for Creative Education Trust says:
“The Day of Performance was a mix of Shakespeare’s wonderful language and the students’ own stylistic invention. Students were thrilled by the prospect of getting out there and performing alongside their counterparts from the other schools, and we were thrilled to watch.”
