Technology

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution."

Albert Einstein

At Caister Academy, the technology curriculum is shared across Art, Catering, Computing and Engineering. You can read more about our specific Art provision in the content for that subject.

At KS3, technology is taught in a rotation so that students are able to apply the Key Concepts of Knowledge Connected across constituent subjects. Students will learn about Structure, Pattern, Meaning and Performance through topics within the four diverse, yet connected, curricula. Summative assessment takes place at the end of each rotation as well as verbally and formatively during each programme of study.

When students progress into Year 10, they are able to specialize in a Technology curriculum of their choice. We offer GCSE and BTEC  in Computing, Catering, Digital Information Technology, Engineering, as well as in Art as discussed elsewhere. All courses are taught to foster a love of the subject that will allow students to focus their passions in post-16 education and beyond. We are developing links with local businesses that will enable students to make an informed choice about future employment and direction of study.
